GISBORNE COLLISION.
POSITION OF ARAHURA.
[Per Press Association]. GISBORNE, March 4,
Salvage operations on the Arahyra havo so far proved ursuccessful, and tho vessel has settled down into f the Band until the deck is level with tho water. The tug Tevawliiti arrived at 12.40 this‘morning and went alongside the Arahura an hour later. Tho right was spent in making preparations, and pumping started after dawn. The Arahura’s bow appears to have lifted slightly, but the results of pumping so far seem to indicate that there is a large hole in tho vessel’s bottom not yet located. Better progress is expected to be made at low tide. The weather, fortunately, remains beautifully calm and fine. > LINER AT AUCKLAND. r ■ . [Pap Punas Association.'! ' AUCKLAND, March 4. The liner that collided with the Arahura anchored here at 4 a.m. today. Probably she will go alongside the dock wharf to-morrow.
