THE WOOL QUESTION.
- v V POSITION OF PRIVATE CONTRACTS WILL BE CANCELLED IF CLIP TAKEN. An important point, which has been in the minds of many people since it was known that the Imperial Government contemplated taking the New Zealand clip, is the position of private contracts. Many or these have be'en made, and it was thought that eome difficulty might be experienced in dealing with them after the authorities have taken the wool. Inquiries in Christchurch yesterday show that the problem lias been considered by those who have the negotiations in hand. It is announced definitely that in case the proposed transaction is carried out by the Imperial Government, all private contracts dealing with this year's clip will be absolutely cancelled.
