ROSE FETE.
COMMITTEE MEETING. 5, * ’ The General Committee of the Rose Fete which is to be held in the Botanical Gardens on December 2, met .at tho City Council Chambers yesterday, Mr James Jamieson presiding. - It was reported that £34 13s 4d had already been received by tho sale of the fete booklets. The Railway Department forwarded the proposed special delayed timetable for«the day of the fete for trains from Christchurch to the Rangiora, Ashburton and Smithbridge branches. The Department of Internal Affairs forwarded application forms for the proposed raffles on behalf of the war funds, and stated that the Minister could not sanction any guessing competitions. All articl.es to he raffled must be bona fide free gifts. It was stated that The Woolston Band had agreed to give its services free on the day. of the fete. The’ chairman said that ticket-hold-ers to the Rose Show’ would not. be asked to contribute an entry fee to tho gardens on the day of the fete, but. could do so if they wished.
