TELEGRAPH OFFICIAL'S GRIEVANCE.
VICTIMISATION ALLEGED.
[Per Press Association.] HAMILTON, November 16.
A case of alleged victimisation, of Which a local telegraph official named Scott is the subject, is creating interest in Hamilton. Scott is one of a large numoer of seceders from the Waikato Regimental Band,. and is alleged to have attempted to stop the To Awamutu Band from playing away the reinforcements draft from Hamilton. It is said that, as the result of representations made by a local military officer to tho Postmaster-General, Scott has received a transfer to Auckland.
At a largo gathering last night, Scott received several presents. Mr Young, M.P., declared that, on making inquiries into the allegations, he found that a gross injustice had been perpetrated. He would make the country ring wiUh the scandal, and, at the risk of losing his seat in Parliament, he would see that redress was made. Mr Oombs, permanent secretary of the Postal Officers' Association, who niado a special journey from Wellington to bo present, declared that he had been authorised by the executive to say that tho organisation of 5000 at his back was determined to make the Department retreat from its present position and do justice to Scott. The association would light the case to the bitter end.
