COMMISSIONS.
AN IMPROVED SCHEME. [Per Prksr Association.] WELLINGTON, October 3. In consequence ,of complaints from men at the front that promotion is swamped by sending a full complement of officers with every draft, more opportunity is to bo givon to obtain commissions by men on active service. At present five New Zealanders per month take commissions in the Imperial Army, six non-coms, come back here for commissions and six obtain them at tho front.
General Godley will now send back twelve officers per month for training with reinforcements. Previously they have returned as non-coms., but they will now return us officers. This, says the Minister of Defence, is to satisfy the continuous demand from the front for more commissions.
