AQUATIC.

AKAROA BOATING CLUB. The twenty-ninth annual meeting of the Akaroa Boatinv Club was held in the boathouse on Tuesday evening. There was a fair attendance. The president (Mr C. W. Lccte) was in the chair. Before commeneiner the. business, a motion of condolence with the relatives of members who had Riven their lives for the country was passed in silence, all members standing. The report stated that the membership stood at sixty, of whom fifteen had enlisted and four . old and present members had made the supreme sacrifice. Tho balance-sheet showed, the receipts as £54 2s, and the expenditure, which included a debit balanoe from, the previous year of £3l .10s, way JSICS 15s 2d. The balanoe of assets over liabilities stood at £7lO 2s Id. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. Officers were elected as follow:—President, Mr C. VV. Leete: vice-presidents, Messrs W. 11.. Henning and E. X. Lelievre; captain, Jar M. Kearney: vice-captain, Mr R. Bruce; honorary secretary and treasurer, Mr M. Italy | committee, Messrs C. Goodwin, C. Walker, C. Hall, V. Magee, D. Checkley, W. Jacobson and E. Staples; delegate to Canterbury Rowing Association, Messrs H. E. Crawshnw and F. S. Otlcy; delegate to Sports Protection Society, Mr H. E. Crawshaw. It was deoided to open tho season on Labour Day. A discussion ensued over* the financial position, and it was decided to hold a sale of work durinsr tho holiday season. * Hearty votes of thanks were passed to the retiring officers, special mention being made of the honorary secretary’s good work. Four now members were elected!.
