SOCIALISTS AND WAR.
GERMANY MUST BE BEATEN
OPPORTUNITIES COMING. (Received September 28, 7 p.m.) LONDON, September 2S. Tho National Socialist Party, in a manifesto to Socialists in Australia, New Zealand, Canada and South Africa, expresses surprise and regret at seeing in overseas Socialist journals that Ii considerable number of colonial Socialists believe that Britain ought not to participate in tho war. “ This arises,” says the manifesto, “from an entire misconception of the.facts. Wo are bound to fight aggressors desiring to dominate Europe and to place tho smaler nationalities at tho mercy of Prussian militarism. Had Germany won, Democracy and Socialism would have boon thrown back more than a generation. British capitalism is a terrible enemy, but capitalism strengthened bv German militarism is niore dangerous still. When peace comes tho workers will have a far. greater chance of obtaining control in Britain than ever before. They are used to arms and conscious of their power. It will bo tho people’s fault if they fail to overcome wage slavery.”
