LAWN TENNIS.

AVONSIDE CLUB. The annual meeting of members of the Avonside Lawn Tennis Club was held at th© Avon Rowing Club’s boatshed last evening. when Mr Henry Wood (president) occupied the chair, and there was a fair attendance of members. The adoption of the report and balancesheet, which have been already published, was moved by th© chairman ana carried unanimously. Officers were elected as follow:—President, Mr Henry Wood; vice-presidents, Messrs F. J. Murray, C. H. Gorton, F. C. Thomas and A. Marshall; honorary secretary, Mr G. L. Berry; honorary treasurer, Mr A. W. J. Peacock; management committee, Messrs S. O. Dixon, J. A. Colthart, J, C. Lord, J. G. Brown, W. Bean, R. Malcolm and W, Sherris; honorary auditor, Mr A. She Tris; delegates to the Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association. Messrs A. W. J. Peacock, W. Sherris and F. J. Murray; delegate to Sports Protection Association, Mr A. W. J. Peacock; ladies’ committee, Mesdames G. L. Berry, J. C Lord and A. Donaldson, and Misses A. Timms and A. Bore? ford; honorary handicapper and selector, Mr G. L. Berry. It was decided to recommend the committee to allow school children to use the club’s courts under proper supervision during th© coming season.

SOUTHBRIDGE CLUB. The annual meeting of th© Southbridge Tennis Club was presided over by Mr E. F. Chapman, and there was a fair attendance. Th© report stated tliat quite a number of players had joined the colours end the hope was expressed that they would return in good health in the near future. No matches had been played with outside clubs, but the courts had been used to a very large extent by the members. The finances were in a good state, there being a credit balance of £7 9s lOd. The grounds ware in good order, and the courts did not require top dressing. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. Officers were elected as follow:—Patron, Hon R. H. Rhodes. M.P.; president, Mr J. S. Inwood; vice-presidents, Messrs J; Storry avid A. J. Inwood. Misses Cryer, GlanTille and Abbott; secretary and treasurer. Miss E. Thompson; auditor, Mr IV. Scott; Ground Committee, Messrs .C. Thompson, T. Carter and G. Beer; General Committee, Mlessrs T. Carter. G. Beer, C. V. Roi, H. Money. A. Inwood and C. Thompson, Mesdames Chapman, Glanville, Gouldcn and Roi, and Misses G. Riordnn and M. Hill. Six new members were elected.
