SLOT TELEPHONES.
POPULAR IN CHRISTCHURCH,
Prompted by the debate in the House of Representatives last week on the subject of slot telephones, Mr H. G. Ell, M.P., investigated the returns from public machines in the four centres. Speaking to a “ Lyttelton Times ” representative yesterday, Mr Ell said that he had turned up an official return supplied to Parliament last year, and found that average takings of each slot telephone, that had been installed for twelve months, for the twelve months ending August 31 last, were greater in Christchurch than in any other of the larger centres of tho Dominion, the respective figures being as follow: £ s. d.
