MAGISTRATE’S COURT.

CHRISTCHURCH.

Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M., presided at the Magistrate’s Court yesterday. On a charge of drunkenness Henry Frederick Neville, a second offender, was fined 10s or forty-eight hours’ imprisonment. John Thomas Hurry and Thomas Weston, for committing breaches of prohibition orders in procuring liquor, were each fined 10s, in default fortycightrhours’ imprisonment. Thornton Newsome, for whom Mr Malloy appeared, was charged with prpcuring liquor while prohibited. Mr Malloy said that accused had not committed any offenco for six months, and was willing to be sent to Roto Roa. Mr Bishop: This man seems to have lost his will power. The last time he eamo before me I sent him to Roto Roa for two years. This timo ho deserves five years. Mr Malloy: Will you commit him to Roto Roa for six months? Air Bishop: Oh, very well. I’ll withdraw the chargo and, on accused’s own application, commit hun to Roto Roa for six months. Charles Harding (Mr M. Donnelly) was adjudged tiro putative father of an illegitimate child, and was ordered to pav 7s Cd per week and costs .ana find surety of £IOO. Mr Cuningham appeared for the complainant. William Pollock, who did not appear, was charged with alleged betting in « train and with committing a- broach, of the railway by-laws. On the application of the police the case was adjourned until July 7.

LYTTELTON. Mr L. A. Stringer, J.P., presided at the Lyttelton Magistrate’s Court yesa seaman, who fell off the wharf on tho previous night, was charged with drunkenness, and was fined 2s. RANGIORA. Air T. A. B. Bailey, S.AL, and Mr E. ]{.* Good. J.P., and Mr W. G. Whiteside, J.P., were on the Bench at tho Rangiora Afagistratc’s Court yosieidav. ..... i For a- breach of a prohibition order, Marv Ballard was fined 10s and costs. In a civil case, T. .T.
