Sir,— l was clad to sea reported in your issue to-day that the> Drapers’ Assistants’ Union had resolved to take action and compel all traders to closo theirshops, like decent citizens, on tho Kiiyc's Birthday and other statutory holidays. There cannot possibly ho either reason or excuse for hosiers', outtitters, with here and there a. nowlv imported little draper’s shop thrown in, keeping open on these holidays. Their stock is not “ perishables,’’ neither is there any demand whatever on those days for the goods they sell.
