THE REINFORCEMENTS. *s* • 'GOVERNMENT CAN MEET QUIREMENT3. MELBOURNE, June 17. Mr Pearce, replying to queries as to ihe possibility of honouring the Government's promises to provide 300,000 troops by the end of June, stated that Ee did not promise 300,000, but undertook to provide an additional 50,000 with reinforcements, which, calculating on the wastage in Gallipoli, would mean 286,000 to the end of June. The reinforcements requirements had since been reduced. The Government’s promise would be completely fulfilled. Australia would have sufficient men to supply reinforcements to the end of June, and the Government expected to •be able to medt requirements after (hat date. EDUCATION FACILITIES. ; FOR SOLDIERS AND DEPENDENTS. SYDNEY, June 17. The Education Department has granted returned soldiers and the wives and daughters of returned soldiers on active service free enrolment at the Technical Colleges.
