Mr Pearce, replying to queries as to ihe possibility of honouring the Government's promises to provide 300,000 troops by the end of June, stated that Ee did not promise 300,000, but undertook to provide an additional 50,000 with reinforcements, which, calculating on the wastage in Gallipoli, would mean 286,000 to the end of June.
