MISS ADELA PANKHURST.
"WOMEN AND THE CHURCH." Miss Adcla Pankhurst continued her lecturing tour last night, when she spoke to a crowded audience in His Majestv's Theatre on " Women and the Church." The hall was tilled long before the meeting commenced, and the Socialist choir and orchestra enlivened ihe interval with selections. Mr E. J. Howard presided. Miss Pankhurst. who received an ovation, spoke in opening on what she declared was the failure of tho Christian Church to follow the teachings of its Founder, and she went on the trace the rise and fall of empires, applying the lessons to present- day happenings. She said that since Christianity did not fulfil any international ideal, having become national, the people must found a new religion that would he based on justice. Miss Pankhurst also spoke at great length on the hues of previous addresses, dealing with foreign policies, and the spread of colonisation. She answered a number of questions, and at the close of the meeting a number of those present sang "The Red Flag.''
