FIJI'S FUTURE.
PETITION FOR ANNEXATION
COLONIAL OFFICE CONDEMNED
By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. MELBOURNE, June 10.
Mr Mahon has received a communication from a resident of Fiji stating that a petition would be presented to the Imperial Government urging the annexation of the colony either by Australia or New Zealand. If a referendum were taken there would be a majority vote in favour of the proposed change. The main grounds were stagnation and the inability of tlie Colonial Office to give proper attention to tho colony's requirements.
