INFANTILE PARALYSIS.
THE OUTBREAK IN AUCKLAND.
[Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND. February 22. Nine cases of infantile paralysis were notified to-day, six in the city" aid three in. the country. The. total cases now are 246.
CASES IX WELLINGTON DISTRICT. ' [Per Press Association-.] . WELLINGTON. February 22. Ttro more cases of infantile paralysis have been reported in the Wellington district, a girl aged two years at Wanganui, and a girl, five months old, at Foxton. . '
The Wellington "Pest" of Monday savs:—ln the -Wellington health district there are at present,sixteen cases of infantile paralysis. The of course, reaches as far north.as New Plymouth and Gislorne. The majority of the cases are at Napier and Gisborne. In the Wellington city area there is only one definite case of infantile paralysis, and this is considered very satisfactory by the authorities. A case vesterday was reported in tile Hint ' Valley "and one at Palmerston North. A 'fresh case at Napier was reported to-day. A fair proportion of the sixteen cases are still doubtful. The health authorities state that m a good manv of the cases the children had been bathine, just prior to being taken ill. either in the sea or rivers. A chill has always been recognised to he a predisposing cause of the disease.
