PURE FOODS.
THE LIGHT-WEIGHT BREAD CAMPAIGN. [From Orn Correspondent.] . WELLINGTON, February 21. The Minister of Internal Affairs evidently believes in doing his utmost to ensure that the .public. while perhaps paving high prices unavoidably, 'shall have the best value in the way of a pure article, true to descriptions, and full weight. He informed a representative of the " Lytteltun Times" that the recent campaign of ' his inspectors against short-weight bread ' had had a very good uesult. It disclosed a large number of cases of deficient weight, but the warnings and prosecutions have" made the position more satisfactory, fls is evidenced by the investigations made to see if the'traders have taken their responsibilities to heart. Butter made from whey has been sold on New , Zealand market in competition with that produced from the cream before it passed through the cheese-making process. The consumer in this country is just as much entitled to know when be 'is getting wh'ev instead of cream butter as the b'uver of New Zealand products in a distant market, therefore the Minister of Internal Affairs has under con. sideration regulations which will ensure the correct labelling of the latest product of the dairy factories.
