H.M.S. PYRAMUS.
A resident of Christchurch has ceived a letter from one of the iadWof H.AI.S. Pvramus, who asks why the men of H.AI.S. Philomel are getting luxuries sent from the people of New Zealand, also special notice in the papers for valuable work done during the war. "Evidently,' 3 he says, "the people of New Zealand have forgotten that there is a little warship, namely. H.AI.S. Pvramus, which has travelled 57,000 miles since the war began, and lias been in at five engagements, also was in at the finish of the Ivonigsberg. being the only ship to follow the monitors up the river. She has over six tv born and bred New Zealanders aboard. Twenty are front Christchurch, fourteen from Wellington and the rest from Auckland and Canterbury. The Philomel can only boast two or three New Zealanders. The men of tilery ramus are not looking for luxuries, being fully prepared to see the war through, if they starve in the attempt, but it is not very encouraging to hear that the men of the Philomel have received one ton and a half of butter, besides fruit, from the people of New Zealand, while the men of the Pvramus had not tasted butter or vegetables for eight months. After the war. when the numbers go up. it will be known what the little Pvramus has done. Until then let, the people of New Zealand be just, and, if they have anything to give away, no matter whether it is praise or provisions, remember their boys on the Pvramus are entitled to a share, at least.”
