NAPIER WOOL SALE.
[Per Press Association - .] NAPIER, February IS. ■The third wool sale opened to-day. Competition was fairly keen. Quality was not up to that ofl last sale, much of the wool being greasy. This was due to a large proportion being backcountry wool. Prices were well up to those ruling at the "Wellington sale. Fine cross-bred 18Id, first Romney lambs 19jd. scoured cross-bred up to 231-d, cro?s'-bred up to bellies 14d, scoured half-bred 20]d, cross-bred hoggets up to 13icl, cross-bred ewes up to. 15R1. A line of cross-bred first lambs brought the high price of 19d. Many lots were passed in, vendors’ reserves not, being reached. After the dinner adjournment bidding was very slack and many lots were passed in. There was a drop in quarter cross-bred fleeces, but values for other lots were maintained. The sale u ill not conclude till early in the morbus.
