EDUCATION SECTION. At a well-attended meeting of the Education, Section oi the Public Services Group-a sub-committee submitted details of the fairy garden.to be held At Lancaster Park in March- Close up* on 2000 girls, dressed to represent flowers and fairies, will take part, and numbers are being trained in sp.ua dances. On Thursday afternoon teachers .rburosenting all the city and suburban ‘schools attended at the Normal School, where a squad of Most Christchurch girls showed the movements to be executed, in preparation for a, rehearsal at Lancaster Park on a large scale.

CITY COUNCIL SECTION. f In Cathedral Square last night considerable attention was attracted by tiie Citv Council's employees demonstration* in aid of the Public Services Queen. An illuminated motor lorry reflected great credit on its desiguei >, and' a band and concert party contributed popular items. blowers were al-o sold by auction and a very successful canvass for subscriptions was made.

HOSPITAL SECTION. \ very successful deuce was held in the Ridgelev Hal! on Thursday evening I, v members of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board Section of the Public Services Queen.

NEXT SATURDAY'S CONCERT. Although not much lias been heard of the Public Services Group, the members have been nutting in some good work, the outcome of which is that a grand concert will be given at the Theatre Royal next Saturday. Tbe p.oirami.ie. which will lie under the direction of Dr J. C’. Bradshaw and Mr Alfred Bunz. is of a meritorious character. A strong orchestra has been got together, and will play -Elgar’s •‘Carillon.” the poem being recited by Mrs Newell. This poem was written for King Albert's bock, and Sir Edward Elgar was asked to set. it to music, and the Christchurch public will be given their iirst. opportunity ofliearexcellent composition. Madam Gower Burns and Miss Florence Scnpiui Mr Farqubnr Young, Mr Montague Gillmore. the Christchurch Liedertafel and the Liedertafel Quartette will assist in the evening's entertainment. The box plan is open at The Bristol, where seats may ho resolved without anv additional charge.
