NEW ZEALAND GIFTS .APPRE CIATED IN ENGLAND. . A letter referring -to the Now Zea«. land Red Cross work has been received bv the society in Christchurch fi out Mr A. E. G. Rhodes, who is at present in England. In the letter he says:— “On the second day Jlerc T went Joint to the New Zealand Hospital at Walton-ou-Thames. The hospital is very nice, -hut only holds 120 at present. and they are enlarging it, as there are 5000 New Zealanders in this countrv (some of them are by now out of hospital). The Walton people are delighted with the idea of the. fifty-two eases sent from Christchurch to themI think they must" be at Walton now, although they ihad not arrived a few days ago. lam going down to see the things after Christmas and will write then.

“ Th© British and Colonial Red Cress Society are supplying things -toy over nine hundred hospitals in these islands, apart fi'om the East and on the Continent-. About fifty of these hospitals have New Zealanders in them, so we must -send constant supplies to St John's Gate. (St John’s is the headquarters of the Red Cross ill London.) They find it most difficult to get flannel goods and blankets. So far they speak most highly of everything New Zealand sends, and say they are among the best they receive. . . , “ One day I went to St John’s Gate and found them sending to the hospitals the 0000 hares sent from Canter-# bury. They are very pleased with the harvest and consider frozen hare better than hare soup. -‘ Everybody seems to he working hard,, and while we have-so many New Zealanders in England we must continue to send material from New Zealand Imre. “The New Zealand War Contingent Association is also doing a great deal to help New Zealanders in England.”
