TIMBER AND ADLTED TRADES
SECTION. \ rrcieral meeting of the Timber and Allied Trades section of the industrial group was held on Saturday evening at the Art Gallery. Mr \\. Goss presiding over a good attendance. The chairman introduced Mrs Halter Hill, the industries queen, who received a, very cordial greeting. Mrs Hill said "-that sue fully appreciated the position she had been placed in; and .no efforts would be spared on her -part to assist the noble and worth.-' obiect they had at heart, the succouring of the gallant men who were doing the fighting, and helping any of their dependents who were in/need. Mr E Waller, honorary treasurer, reported that the cash receipts to date amounted to nearly £3OO. and the donations promised to £I4OO. A large number of employers had still to be canvassed, .. ■ - ■ \; ■■■• • . . Mi ; 'Ballinger.stated that permission would'be applied for to hold a street sale of. badges and flowers.at an earJy date. Mr M'Murray'reported that arrangements were well in hand for tlio bazaar and jumble sale lo be held in conjunc-, tion with the soldiers'* section at the King Edward Barracks in February. It was decided to make.a systematic ennrass of the city and suburbs to solicit articles for the sale, collectors being appointed: and,also to apply for permission to hold an art union. • Delegates were .appointed to interview the plumbers and plasterers with reference, to..joining the .section.. \
