QUEEN ELECTION.
PUBLIC SERVICE GROUP.
CIVIL SERVICE SECTION. A meeting of the Civil Service Section of the Public Service Group was held in the Provincial Chambers on Wednesday night,' when Mr L. B. Jordan presided over a good attendance. The secretary reported that tickets for the various art unions were selling very well indeed. It was announced that several more articles had been given to the 00mmitteo to be raffled. The Publishing Committee, which has in baud an artistic and .literary production, reported that the services of well-known artists had been secured, and all the arrangements were well in hand for the publication.
INDUSTRIES* GROUP.
CARRIERS' SECTION. The carriers' section of the Industrial Group met at the Canterbury Employers' Association's rooms, on Wednesday evening, Mr H. J. Otley being in the chair. Mr Willis, the sectional secretary, attended, and offered any assistance possible. It was reported that about £2OO had been collected up to date Preliminary arrangements were made for a carriers' fancy dress procession to be held on the first Saturday in March. . ' A special committee was' appointedfor the purpose of canvassing employers for cash donations. ■ During the evening Mr George Cormack handed the treasurer his cheque for £3O as a cash donation towards the 'fund in aid of the election of the Industrial Queen.
ENGINEERS' BRANCH. The General Committee of the Engineers' branch of the Industrial section met at the Caledonian rooms last Reports were received from the representatives of various firms, and a small committee was formed to visit «nd stimulate those employees who Vcrc not, up to the present, very enthusiastic. . Arrangements were made to have a supply of Queen tickets and buttons nvailable from Mr Doighton, at Messrs Booth. Mncdonald and Co.'s, and Mr Carlisle, at Andersons, Ltd'., and representatives of tho various shops were asked to call and obtain supplies. It was decided to ask ladies to join the General Committee and assist in organising various arrangements for the purpose of obtaining assistance for the Queen.
