Tho results of the play in the seventh rouud of the Christchurch United Fnenly Societies* Card Association s tournament were as follows: —City of Christchurch A beat Washington by ' 22 games to IT; Anchor beat Mistletoe by 21 games to 20; Pioneer beat Star of St Albans by 20 gomes to 19; Lily of Richmond beat Addington by 2b games to 15: City of Christchurch B beat Queen’s Own by 19 games to 14. The positions of the various teams are:—Mistletoe 5, Anchor aud Lily of Richmond 4) each. Washington and Pioneer 4 each. City of Christchurch A and Addington 34 each ; Queen’s Own and Star of St Albans 2J- each. City of Christchurch B 1. _ _ . _ The Pioneer Lodge, No. 1, U.A.0.D.. hold its half-yearly meeting on Monday evening, A.D. Brother J.W. Lyness presiding over a largo attendance of members knd visitors. The District Grand Lodge officers also attended. Whon the usual business was concluded the lodge adjourned for harmony for the purpose of entertaining P.D.G.P. Brother J. Swinnorton. who has resigned his position of secretary to the lodge after twenty-six years of office and forty-one vears’ service to the Order. P.D.P. . Brother 14'. S. WilLvteed proposed tho toast of Brother Swinnorton, and referred feelingly to the guest’s many good qualities "and the services he had rendered to the lodge and Order. During the evening D.G.P. Brother R. Walls and P.D.G.P. Brother H. E. Smith presented Brother Swinnerton with two armchairs, one for himself and one for Mrs Swinnerton. A concert was hold in tho Knox Church Hall on Thursday evening, on behalf of the Canterbury Band of Hope Union, when there was a. very fair attendance. Tho Roy B. Metson presided. An excellent programme comprised pianoforte solos given by Misses Shaw and A. Boys, an Irish jig hy Miss D. Hull, recitations by Misses Mavis Ritchie. E. Fraser. G. Simpson, Essie Muff and Muster Leu Cummins, a coon song hy Misses D. Hull an<l D. Lucas, and vocal solos by Misses Ada Boys and Essie Muff, and Messrs R. M. Cummins. H. Kav, M’Kenzie and Master Roy Fraser.
