BOWLING.

BELGIAN SATURDAY. Almost ideal weather graced the “ Belgian Saturday ” fixtures of the Christchurch Centre of the Dominion Bowling Association. With the exception of "Canterbury. United and Linwood Clubs, which held their “ Belgian Saturday ” on the previous week, every club in the centre’s distriot devoted Saturday afternoon to the collection of money for the relief of the distressed Belgians.

At Sydenham, EUgewaie, St Albans and I’apamu greens the afternoon was devoted to rink games, the proceeds from entrance fees and afternoon tea being devoted to the fund. On Opawa green a variety of competitions was conducted, and on Christchurch green a. very elaborate fancy dress carnival was held. CHRISTCHURCH CLUB.

The programme at Christchurch green consisted of a rinks game between sides picked by the president and vice-president, followed by drawing and driving competitions. The competitors iu many of the -rime p,times were in fancy costumes—there was a most impressive John Bull and a tall Unclo Jonathan, two Chinese, a Frenchman, a Belgian. The total receipts for Ihe afternoon will be ever £125. ST ALBANS CLUB. The total receipts at St Albans groan amounted, to £3O Os fid. The. Belgian :iniM Tournament was won by a rink composed of AV. Brock, J. AVatson, C. Cuningham and F. AV. Johnston (skip), and a croquet tournament was won by Mrs Crux ton, with Mrs Hobbs second. OPAWA CLUB. Belgian Saturday on tho Opawa Club's green was attended by a very large number of members and their friends. A- number of little girla residing in. the district sold buttonholes and sweets, and n set of bowls, presented by an ex-member of the club, was sold by auction, end realised £2 12s fid towards the fund. Tap total receipts for tho day amounted to £35 2s fid. SYDENHAM CLUB. At the Sydenham green £ll Is was collected. SUNNYSIDE CLUB. Tlie Sudnyside Club held a doubles tournament on Saturday. The competition was! won by Bracsenridge and a. patient. Tho sum of £7 15s was collected for Ihe Belgian Fund. RANGIORA CLUB. Belgian Day on tho Kangiora green was held on Saturday afternoon. A progressive double tournament was played in which twenty members took part. T. B. Cress- | well won tho skips’ prize and J. Taylor the leads, each winning all his games. Taylor had the unusual experience of having to play off a tie in eocn game. The sum of £6 Is was raised hv entry fees and will be handed to the Belgian Fund. ELECTRIC LIGHT CARNIVAL. The gross receipts from the Christchurch Centre's Eiectnc Light Carnival at tho Christchurch green amounted ,« £27 2e on the first day and £46 Is 7d on the second, a total of £73 3s 7d. CANTERBURY CLUB. In the final for the singles championship of the Canterbury Club played on baluiday nt'.ernoou F. Barlow beat Lowry by 17 ,o 12.
