The annual general meeting of the Riccarton Cricket Club will be held in the Gloucester Chambers, Gloucester Street, to-day, at 8 p.m. In tho report of the annual meeting of the Coal and Blanket Fund, hold on Monday, mention was omitted of 15 tons of coal given by -the Blackball Coal Company. On Saturday the annual representative football match between Canterbury and Southland will bo played at Lancaster Park, and an interesting game is anticipated. Canterbury will bo played, commencing at 1.30 p.m. At a meeting of tho Spreydon Borough Council held last night, the Mayor (Mr G. R. Whiting) reported that the fund subscribed for the support of tho family in distress in the borough stood as follows:—Total receipts, £42 lis 3d; banked in G.P.0., £29 is 9d; goods bought, £5 16s; cash in hand, £7 13s 6d. Heavy gun practice was continued from tho forts at Ripa Island yesterday and r.gain the gunners of the No. 4 Company of tho New Zealand Garrison Artillery Territorials acquitted themselves most creditably. Five rounds wore fired from each of the 8-inch and 6-inch guns at a range of about 5100 yards, and out of the ten shots eight "hits" were recorded.
