PUBLIC FINANCE.
TO THK KDITOR, Sir,—Your correspondent, "Index," has given somo useful hints in today's paper in regnrd to an improved financial system, but I believe has only half grasped the situation; inasmuch ns lie speaks of perpetuating taxation, whorons if ho thoroughly understood the advantage of a State Bank, with papor money issuo > based on the resources of the Dominion for all internal operations, he would know taxation can bo wiped out altogether, as well as the continuous unemployed cry. However, it looks hopeful, in this insane, stupid borrowing age, to hrar one voice sounding a note in tUc right direction.—l am. etc., W. FITZHENRY. Lin wood, August 31.
