THE COUNTY COUNCIL'S SEARCH " Times " and Sydney " Sun " Serried. LONDON, July 16.

The London County Council is divided in its choice of a motto for the city, a section desiring Latin, and others English, readablo by the man in the street.

George Bernard Shaw suggests that "Hell is a city much like London" would be most apt until the Council carries out its duties.

The "Times," in a leading article, suggests as a motto " Sweet " Thames, run softly."
