A Danish explorer who has returned from a journey across the inland ice of Greenland made uso of Icelandic ponies, which he found to he well adapted to Arctic travel. When stops wero made the horses were sheltered in holes cut in the ice. These icy stalls were quite comfortable, and in severe weather were covered with tarpaulins to keep out snow aud wind. The small horses gave a good account of ihemsclves, and will doubtless be usea extensively in future Arctic expeditions.
