PRESENTATIONS.

On Thursday evening last the employees of Mrs Coira, Temulia, took the opportunity of saying farewell to her and of giving her a present as a mark of their esteem. The gathering took placo at Mrs Beri's, where an agreoablo evening was spent. Mies Boii, on behalf of tue employees, presented Mrs Coira With two Morris chairs. She said 'that they could not let the occasion pass without giving her some token to remind her of them, and the happy days days they had spent together during tho past three years. They would ask hor to accept tho two oasy chairs, as a token of, their lovo and esteem. In conclusion, they hoped that Mr and Mrs Coira would live mauy happy years, and that they would sometimes think of them in Tomuka. Mr and Mrs Coira responded. On Thursday evening last the Girls' Friendly Society and parishioners of St Peters's Church, Temuka, assembled at Mrs James's residence to make.a pre-, sentation to Miss Whitehead on the evo of her marriage. The gathering was in the form of an " advertisement evening," and the prizes were won by Mr W. Scowen and Miss Harte, and the composition of verses of poetry including the name "Marian," caused a great deal of laughter, tho Rev. A. H. Norrie securing, the honours of "Poet Laureate." Sir Norris, on behalf of tho parishioners, presented Miss White-' head with a rose-bowl and a clock in glass, and on behalf of the Girls' Friendly Society with a handsome cruet service On "behalf of his granddaughter, Mr Rutland responded, expressing' appreciation. of tho kind words and handsome presents. Songs wero given bv Miss Comer and Messrs 1 F. W. Salmon, W. Scowen and W. PearcQ. On Tuesday afternoon a presentation was made to Mr R. Rioters, late foreman for Messrs W- Nicholls and Sons, wool-gcourcr.'i, Belfast, who has left the firm after being connected with it for the past eleven years. A Kaiapoi rug and a sovereign case were handed to tho guest by Mr W. Johnson on behalf t of the employees, Mr Rogers suitably j responded.
