FIRES.
TEMUKA WOODWARE FACTORY BURNED. An alarm of fire was given at Temuka on Monday evening, the outbreak being in Mr D. M'lnnes's woodware factory in Hornbrook Street. The fire had a very strong hold when discovered and the building, which was of corrugated iion, was completely gutted., The origin of the fire is unknown, but it is surmised it is the result of au overheated bearing in the machinery. Tho Fire Brigade prevented tho flames reaching the petrol tank, though tho task was a dangerous ono. The onlookers were expecting an explosion and kept clear. The damage done to' tho machinery was extensive and tho repairing and refitting will be a costly job. The insurance was £450 on the building and plant in the New Zealand Office.
