MOTOR BUSES.

TWO MUNICIPAL EXPERIMENTS. [From Our Correspondent.] WELLINGTON, Juno 2. The Wellington City Council and tho Borough of Petono have this week accepted tenders for motor buses to be run by the respective municipalities. Petone has gore in for three Mandsley chassis, of which two are to be thirtypassenger buses at a cost of £777 9s for each chassis and a brake horse power of 40.5. Tho third bus is to scat twenty-two passengers and to cost £440 with a brake horse power of 33.9. The ratepayers some months ago vetoed a tramway proposal. Wellington's venture is intended to serve as a feeder to tho municipal trams. The City Council aocepted the tender of Messrs Richardson and M'Cabe, Ltd., for the supply of three Milling Stevens motor buses. It is understood that the contract was to be signed to-day and that the price quoted is slightly under £4OOO. Several other tenders were recoived and the prices ranged from £2905 to £4944. Tho City Council has decided to increase the prico of each of tho three cars by £SO in order that tho bodies may be. rearranged, thus making the buses moro useful for observation purposes. The observation trains have been a great success, many hundreds of visitors having used them last summer. A trip over thirty miles of tho system cost two shillings.
