CHRISTCHUBCH. Tuesday, June 2. (Before Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M.) Drunkenness.—A first offender was fined 6s, in default twenty-four hours' imprisonment, and another, who had been on the railway station, was fined 10s, in default forty-eight hours imprisonment.—Michael Moran, a statutory second offender, was fined 10s, in default forty-eight hours' imprisonment.—Martin Kirk, charged with a breach of a prohibition order, was convicted and discharged.—John Crowley, who did not appear, was fined 20s, in default fourteen days' imprisonment for having procured Jiquor miring the currency of a prohibition order. Bemanded.—Elizabeth Mary Mason was remanded for a week on a charge of having stolen a ring valued at £6 from Elizabeth Polton at Springfield.
WAIMATE. Monday, June 2. (Before Mr V. G. Day, S.M.) Act. Patrick John Fogarty, who made no appearance, was fined £3 and costs, and James Fitzgerald was fined a like amount.— Roy M. Hilda was fined 40s and 7s costs, the defendant negleoting to appear, and Wallace Cousins the same amount. —Harry Augustus Mason, who pleaded guilty, was fined 20s and costs.—lnformations against three others were dismissed. Civil Cases.—A. S. Jones v. W. J. Boonej claim £3; judgment for plaintiff tor amount claimed. —Graham and Clear v. Alfred Thornton, claim £1 2s sd; judgment for plaintiffs for the amount claimed. By-law Cases.—F. Brinkman and A. Byrne, for riding bicycles without lights were each fined 10s and costs.—G. A. Allfrey, similarly charged, pleaded guilty and was convicted and ordered to pay 7s costs.—-TV. Barford, who pleaded not guilty to a charge of allowing a horse to wander, was convicted and ordered to pay costs.
