i » OPEN AIR HOME FUND. MEFfING OF THE;COMMITTEE. A meeting of the committee of the Open Air Home for Children Fund was j held in the City Council Chambers yesterday afternoon, Mr J. A. Flesher presiding. There was a large attendance. A letter was received from the North Canterbury Hospital Hoard extending an invitation to members to the opening of King George's Hospital. The invitation was accepted with thanks. The' Hospital Board also wrote stating that it was prepared to undertake the. future maintenance of the Home. The Christchurch Meat Company stated its decision to donate the sum of £SO to the fund. The thanks of the members were tendered to the company for its generous donation. The ilangiora. Lyttelton, R'iccarton and AVoolston Borough Councils wrote agreeing to hold meetings in their i boroughs in support of the fund. Mr F. A. iiornibrook, secretary of' the Christchurch Athletes' Club, wrote offering to hold an athletic ear- j nival in aid of the fund. The offer was accepted with thanks. I The secretary stated that the amount collected to date, less necessary disbursements, was £291 9s 6d, and this with another £ls to come and the £SO donated by the Christchurch Meat Company, brought the total well on towards £-100. Mrs C. T. Aschman and Mr T. H. Davey, M.P., were added to the committee. The Commercial Travellers' Association wrote offering to organise a street carnival early in August for the fund, and estimating the amount to bo collected in this way at £2OO. The offer was accepted. The Julius Knight Amateur Dramatic Company offered its services in aid .of the fund.
