GALE IN THE SOUTH. . [Pan Prkss Association.] •■'••' INVEROARGILL, June 2. ; . After an exceptionally fine summer and autumn, Southland is having its first taste of winter. The weather tonight is boisterous, wet and cold. A report from the Bluff to-night states that the Maitai for Melbourne, via Hcbartj is still at the wharf, being unable to clear the port owing to a very heavy gale which sprang up this afternoon. Unless there is a decided lull the vessel will be unable to sail to-night.
