SCIENCE UP TO DATE.

TO THU EDITOR. Sir, —Please allow me to express th« very keen pleasure afforded to many of your readers by the interesting articles contributed in your paper by Mr James Collier and the writer of astronomical notes.

Mr Collier’s weekly contributions on scientific subjects are delightful. They keep one in touch with the past and present thoughts and discoveries'of our great leaders in the world of knowledge. They are invaluable. The astronomical notes are intensely interesting, and I want in my humble way to thank the writer for I know his keen study of the skies, year in and year out, must involve a great deal of time and trouble. —I am, etc., ONE OF MANY APPRECIATIVE READERS.
