DEATH FROM BURNS.
INQUEST ON AN INFANT. An inquest was held yesterday by Mr H. W. Bishop concerning the death of John 'William Eouncey Reynolds, aged eleven months, who died at the llosnital on Saturday. Dr A. M. Trotter, house surgeon, said that the child was admitted on Thursday and was then suffering from burns. Ho died on Saturday from shock and septic absorption caused by the burns. Ethel Reynolds, the mother of the child, said that on Thursday she had just strained some beef tea, when, while her back was turned, the child tipped the basin containing the hot liquid over it. The basin was fully six inenes from the edge of the bench, and the child could only just stand. She could not understand how the child reached ihe basin. A verdict of accidental death caused by burns was returned. CABDRIVER’S ACCIDENT. A. Butterfield, a cabdriver living in Tuam Street, was admitted to the Hospital at. 11.50 p.m. on Saturday suffering from a fractured leg. _ The injury ivas caused by the man driving into a lamp-post. SUDDEN DEATH. Sarah Clayton, who resides in Spreydon, died suddenly on Saturday shortly after 5 p:m. She had been in ill-health for five years. On Saturday there was nothing to suggest anything serious in her condition until the evening, when she complained of pain. She went to bed, and shortly after she died. A nost-mortem examination was made by Dr Sandstein, whose evidence at the inquest was that death was due to hemmorhage from a duodenal, ulcer, and a verdict in accordance with his evidence was returned.
