MOTOR CYCLING.

ANNUAL HUNDRED MILES RACE. HELD ON NEW BRIGHTON BEACH. The annual 100-mile race of the North Canterbury Motor Cyclists’ Club was held on North New Brighton beach on Saturday afternoon. The crowd was the largest seen at beach racing since the contests were held a mile and a half from the pier. .... Tho race started at the Waimakmn end of the course and finished at. the New Brighton end. Seventeen riders started, but by the time fiftv miles had been covered only about half remained in the race. Tho following officials were on the beach .-—Judge, Mr P. H. Powell; starter and secretary, Mr B. Harding; time-keepers, Messrs Manning, Sinclair and Wear; turning stewards, Messrs J. W. Young and F. Jones; clerk of course, Mr L. Atkinson.

The following is the result: — E. F. Hinds (7 h.p. Indian), scr 1 T. Berry (7 h.p. Indian), 4min . 2 C. Moffatt, (23 h.p. Douglas’). 33min 3 Hinds gained the fastest time, doing the distance in lhr 46min 32sec, with Berry second in lhr 51min 6scc.
