(From the “Lyttelton Times” of Saturday, March 5. 1864.) White’s Waituakariri Bridge.—Wo see by the “Gazette” that his Honor the Superintendent has declared this bridge o]K-H lor traffic. It is believed that tho Assistant Provincial Engineer has certified that it is in a. proper condition for public use.
Election for Wainui. —The election of a member to represent tho above district in tim Provincial Council took place at the Resident Magistrate’s Court, Akavoa, on Monday, the 28th u!t. Mr G. 11 ay lock stated he had great pleasure in proposing Henry John Tanered, Esq., as a fit and proper person to represent the district; he thought they would be honoured in having the services of a man like Mr Tailored for their representative. Air Scarborough had groat pleasure in seconding Mr Tancred. No other candidate being proposed, the returning officer, W. Weston, Esq., declared Mr Tancred duly eleoted.
