NORTHERN. \ , MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of tho Northern | Agricultural and Pastoral Association’s General Committeo was field yesterday morning. There were eighteen mem-' bers present, and.Mr A- S. Clarkson,' president, was in the chair. The-chairman referred in terms of regret to the death, of Mr Joseph Stalker, ail old and much valued meimher of the Association, who. had done good service for its advancement A; motion of sympathy with Mrs Stalker‘s and family was carried by the members standing. An oiler of £2 per .annum for the • use of the Society’s rooms for meeting purposes was received from the North I Canterbury Poultry Club and was ac-> cepted. : Air S. A. Clark, of the High School/ staff, wrote that it was his intention' to write a thesis on . the economic JhisV tory of Rangiora and surrounding district, and asking for the assistance of the Association in collecting information. The request was favourably entertained and the matter was left to Air J. L. Wilson, the Association’s historian, and the • secretary to deal with. • .. i The Winter Show Committee fe.commended flint the dates of the show; should bo on Tuesday and Wednesdays April 28 and 29. It also recommended that the following-, should be appoint-', cd stewards:—Cookery, Messrs J. NYU Foster, J. Marshall, and Misses Dickhoff and Foster; dairy produce, Mr W. Scoon; honey and bees, Messrs R. M’Tntosh and R. H. Walker; . fruit and'preserves, Messrs R. Marshall and F. Ilorrell; schools’ exhibits. Messrs T.-, R. Cresswcll and S. A. Clark; needlework, Air H. Bix : flowers, Air and Airs J. O. Josling; garden produce. Alessrs Of. W. Bell, W. A. Banks and J. K. Burns; farm roots, Messrs H. DickF hoff, W. Stalker, ■ A. Al’lntosli and Tf Keney: grain and seeds, Alessrs: JV* Begg, J. Brosnan, . W. A. Kelcher arid S. Ryan. The recommendations were approved. A Special Prizes Committee for the' winter show' was appointed, consisting of Alessrs T. Leech, R. Al’lritosh, T. <- R. Cresswell, T. Wyllie and Iv. Alin-* tosh. ‘ . '?
