YESTERDAY’S GAMES. The annual tournament of the Christchurch Polo Club was continued yesterday. The weather was beautifully fine, and there was a large attendance of spectators. His Excellency the Governor and the Countess of Liverpool were present, and were welcomed by Mr A. E. G. Rhodes. THE RHODES CUP. PAREORA v. HA WARDEN. Pareora met Hawarden for the final of tho Rhodes Cup. The teams were as follows: Pareora A (white), scr—A. Elworthy 4 (captain), H. Elworthy 3, P. Elworthy 2, L. Orbcll 1. Hawarden (red), hdcp I—C. Rutherford 4, L. Rutherford 3 (captain), E. Davison 2, F. Davison 1. * At the beginning of the first spell Pareora got away with the ball, hut it went wide of the posts. A minute later H. Elworthy scored. This was followed almost immediately by a goal for Hawarden shot by F. Davison. With half a minute to go, P. Elworthy scored Pareora’s second goal, Orbell following immediately with a third. The game was fast and furious, and the spell ended—Pareora 3, Hawarden 2. Hawarden scored After Eome quick work at the beginning of the second spell, but there was .no further change when the hell sounded. Pareora 3,' Hawarden; 3. F. Davison scored from in front of Pareora’s goal in the firkt part of the third spell, and shortly afterwards L. Rutherford shot another goal, the spell ending—Pareora 3, Hawarden 5. After further fast play in the fourth spell, Pareora scored, and with a minute to go H. Elworthy made the score all square. Pareora 5, Hawarden, 5. _ln the fifth spell Pareora scored, followed immediately by a goal for Hawarden. A minute hr so later Pareora soored again'.'Hawarden th'ep scored from a penalty for across. Pareora'7/ Hawarden 7. Hawarden made' several unsuccessful shots at goal in the sixth spell, and the spell ended with no change in the scores. Pareora 7, Hawarden 7. There was some exciting play in the final spell, and F. Davison scored for Hawarden three times in quick succession after a brilliant exhibition, The game ended in a win for Hawarden by ten goals to seven. Mr A. E. G. Ehodee asked his Excellency to present the cup to the winning team, and said that the tournament was as successful as any that* had been held in Christchurch. His Excellency presented the cup, and L. Rutherford, captain of the Hawarden team, briefly returned thanks. Three cheers were given by the team for his Excellency, and three more for Mrs A. E. G. Rhodes.

THE STEAD CUP. RANGIORA B v. TIPAPA.

Rangiora B met Tipapa in the contest for the Stead Cup. The teams were as follows: Rangiora (red)—A. Fear (captain), E. Fear, J. Chapman, D. Chapman. "’V *’ Tipapa (white) —H. Acton-Adams (captain), F. Fox, H. P. Olney, D. Macfarlane. Tipapa scored in the first spell, which was not eventful., Tipapa 1, Rangiora 0. In the second spell Rangiora scored just after the bell rang. Tipapa 1, Rangiora I. The third and fourth spells ended without any change in the scores. At the commencement of the fifth spell Fox had a spill. About half-way through the spell Chapman shot a goal for Rangiora. Tipapa scored as the bell wis sounded, and the' Spell ended—Tipapa 2, Rangiora 2. Rangiora Bcored twice in tho first part of the sixth spell,_ and after ' several minutes’ play scored again. Just before the bell sounded a further score brought Rangiora’s total to six, with. Tipapa 2. In the final spell a goal was scored by Rangiora just on the call of time, Rangiora winning the game by seven goals to two.
