PROPOSED ALTERATION OF RULES. OPINION OF LOCAL PLAYER. On being seen by a representative of the “Lyttelton Times” regarding the proposed addition to the service rules by the International Tennis Federation, a prominent Canterbury tennis player stated that the proposal would no doubt be popular among followers of the game, as it would prevent foot-faulting, which was a much discussed question at tho present time. It would also favour base line players, aswolleyers would take longor to get up to the net through having to stand further back from the base line when serving to comply with the new provision. Regarding the one service principle, he did not think that anything would bo done in that matter.
