CHANG-SUN'S APOLOGY
CEREMONY AT NANKIN
(Received September 29, 11.40 p.m.) PEKIN, September 29.
A bodyguard of fifty cavalry accompanied General Chang-Sun to the consulate at Nankin in tho morning, when he apologised'. Eight hundred of Chang-Sun's troops, marched in the afternoon to the consulate and presented arms, their commander saluting the Consul, while the Japanese troops stood, to attention.
It is believed that the British Consul induced the Japanese to accept this compromise instead of forcing ChangSun to apologise at the head of his troops.
