Drunkenness.—Robert Ellis, charged with drunkenness and with committing a nuisance in High Street, was fined os on each charge.—A male first offender was fined os, in default twentyfour hours' imprisonment. Default Cases.—Judgment by default for the plaintiff with costs was given in each of the following cases:—Dougall and Lpham (Mr Upham) v. J. H. Pooley, £4 lis 2d J Garrick and Co. (Mr Alpers) v. H. J. Brown, £lO 19s lOd; A. Burgess (Mr Wright) v. John Kay, £33 18s 2d; J. A. Redpath and Son (Mr Alpers) v. W. H. Jones, jun., £7 lis lOd; E. Reece and Sons (Mr Williams) v. J. Barron, £6 17s 6d; H. Berry and Co. (Mr Flesher) v. John Smith, 12s 3d; Papuan Products Company, Ltd. v. C. R. Cooke, £3 17s Cd; F. D. Kesteven (Mr Rowe) v. Michael Murray, £23; W. J. Doyle (Mr Malley) v. A. Jackson, , £8 ss; E. P. Strain (Mr Malley) v. ! Winnie Baker, £7 14s; Simms and Sons, Ltd. (Mr Malley) v. W. Hannan, £4 3s. Defended Cases.—Frederick Blogg, of Christchurch, contractor, claimed £lB 5s (3d from Ernest Lancelot Henry Brown, of Sumner ,_ farmer, for carting work done by plaintiff for defendant. Mr Hunt .appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr Alpers for the defendant. For the defence it was alleged that the number of loads of clay said to have been carted by plaintiff was incorrectly stated. After evidence had been heard, judgment was given for the plaintiff for £l4 7s 6d, with costs.—C. J. Voice (Mr Beatty) claimed £1 lffs from W. E. Wade, for repairs done to a spring-cart. Defendant alleged that he was not the owner of the cart, but had been an agent for someone else, and was not therefore liable for the debt. Judgment was given for the plaintiff for the amount claimed.—K. F. England (Mr Free) claimed £3B 6s 3d from John Hall for work done and material supplied in the erection of additions to a fishing hut at Selwyn in May, 1912. Defendant alleged that the work had been unsatisfactory. Judgment was given for the plaintiff for the amount claimed with costs. !
