MARKET REPORTS.

NORTH OTAGO. [Faoii Our Corresi'ondent.] OAMARU, September 27. The week has been an exceptionally quiet one in tho grain market. A few small lots of wheat, tho largest hailing from South Canterbury; have changed hands at the following prices net to growers at country stations .-—Velvet 4s, Redchaff 3s 9d, Tuscan (solid straw) 3s rHd and 3s 7d, Marshall's White 3s 6jd and 3s 7d. Very few oats have been on offer, and theso of very modest dimensions. Tho talk of inquiries from Australia" has not had any hardening effect, and prices have been 2s Id net for A grade Gartens and 2s net for B grade, both on trucks at country stations. Oatsheaf chaff continues to move off slowly at £3 10s net on trucks. Business in potatoes shows no improvement so far as prices are concerned, though there has been a slight increase in the quantity disposed of. Sales of freshly picked potatoes have been made at 35s at country stations and £2 ex store, which fairly represent current values, though £2 net on trucks might he obtained for small lots of choico repicked tubers.
