Tho American Lawn Tennis Asoooi-tion has cabled asking that tho- preliminary round ol tho Davis Cup should be played in America instead of England, stating that it is impracticable to play in England on Juno 21, tho time fixed for the completion of tho match, and suggesting that if Australasia is uuablo to agree to plr.y America, tho match should be played on June 23, after the All England championships. The Association und:rtakos to furnish a substantial guarantee if the match should be played in America. OXFORD v. SPRINGFIELD. A match, Oxford v. .Springfield, was played on Saturday on the Springfield courts, resulting in a win for Oxford by four games.
