RICHMOND DOMAIN BOARD.
A special meeting of the Richmond Domain Board was held in the City Council Chambers on Monday last, Mr G. W. Russell, M.P., "presiding, and there being also present Messrs J. Rowe, W. H. .Lawrence, R. S. Ward and K. Bassett (honorary secretary). It was decided to formally open the Domain on Saturday afternoon, March 29, at 3 p.ra., and to call the Domain Richmond Park in future. It was arranged that the chairman of the Board should preside, and that the Mayor of Christchurch (Mr H. Holland) and the chairman of the Waimairi County; Council should 1 be' invited' to ’‘give addresses. The chairman and secretary were instructed to send invitations to the representatives of various local bodies, sports associations and prominent citizens.
A sub-committee was appointed to provide for tho visitors’ entertainment, and the chairman was deputed to arrange with the Rugby Union for a first-ejass football match to be played on tho new ground. It was reported that arrangements had been made to have the use of the City Council roller so that tho ground should be in order. Permission was given to the Salvation Army to hold a picnic in the Park on Faster Monday, providing the grounds were left in a tidy condition. Mr- Ward offered, on behalf of the newly-formed Richmond Football Club, to provide and erect two sets of goalposts and mark out the football grounds. Tho offer was accepted with thanks, and Messrs Walter and Ward were authorised to supervise the work.
