CHRISTCHURCH. Saturday, Mav 4, (Before Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M.) Dkunkenkess. —A first a Woman, who did not appear, was fined 6s, in default twenty-four hours' , imprisonment.—Watts Erickspn wa* charged with having been drunk and having broken his prohibition order. He was fined 10s, in default forty-eighi hours' imprisonment on each charge. Alleoeo Bicycle Theft.—Frank Goscomb was charged with having on October 14, 1911, stolen a bicycle valued at £5, ihe property of Henry Edward Heath. Evidence was given as to the loss of the bicvele by the owner. Constable Read said that accused had come to the police station looking for a bicycle which he alleged he had lostHe had pointed out the bicycle lost by Heath, which was produced in Court, and had identified it. The constable, being suepicious about accused, made inquiries at a bicycle shop, and as a rosult arrested the accused. Accused stated that he could produce witnesses as to the hopesty of his method of obtaining the bicycle, and he was remanded till May 7. Bail was allowed, accused in £SO and one surety of £oO. Idle and Disorderly. Henry M'Urov, alias David Wileon, was charged with being an idle and disorderly person, and with having insufficient lawful means of support. Detectives M'Leod and Kennedy stated that the accused had been for some time in Christehurch. consorting with thieves and living with a prostitute. Accused denied this, and stated that he had been shearing in Australia, producing his father arc a witness. The accusec was convicted on this charge. He wa? then further charged with having or March 14, at Timaru. stolen a pocket book containing £5. the property o William Butler Bradshaw. On the ap plication of the Chief-Detective he was remanded to appear at Timarn on this charpe on May 7. and on the first charce he was remanded to appear ir Christchurch on May n for sentence.
