Barometer 'fall;'' strong north to west winds; shipping ..warned., after twenty-four hours. . .. . , ... , : p-, ■r, The Dominion meteorologist's summary and forecast id as follows:—Anti-cyclonio conditions now prevail, tho barometer having risen everywhere, with decreasing southerly winds. Cold and showery weather has prevailed, but conditions have considerably improved to-day in most parts of the country. Present indications are for moderate to strong southerly winds, with a rising barometer. The weather will probably bo generally fair by day and cold at, night. Another westerly low-pressure area is likoly to pass southward of New. Zealand in tho early part of next week : •and'cause strong westerly winds Plymouth and Castle Point. ~a ««gi!oT Tho meteorological observations taken nt the Ashburton Domain Weather Station for the month of April are as follow:—Highest reading of the barometer 30.15 in on April 2, lowest 20.03 in on April 27. Highest reading of the maximum thermometer 71deg on April 7, lowest 48deg on April 29. Highest reading of tho minimum 51deg on April 22, lowest 31.5d0g on April 29. Rain fell on nine days, totalling 4.16 in, the maximum fall being 1.87 in on April 24. Frosts ranging up to Sdoj were recorded. At Kyle 5.39 in of rain were recorded.
