AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION.
The committee of the ' Canterbury -Automobile Association met last night; present—Messrs W. E. Mills '(president), W. Broadway, E. J. /Righton, D. Grozier, G. D. J. S. Hawkes, E. H. Jones, R, English anc 'Drs Louisson and i Simpson. . A committee consisting of the president,' Messrs Broadway was 6et i up- to prepare a report on the proposal to secure cluh rooms. ... The Selwyn County Cpuncil wrote; stating that it could not see its.way to blind the river crossings, especially as there was a bridge over the • river a few miles above the ford complained, of. The track had been levelled and the large stones thrown off. The Paparua County Council wrote, stating that the bad hole near the Tai Tapu Bridge had been attended to. The Tramway Board- wrote, concerning the state of the track at the corner of the North Avon and New Brighton Roads. The clearance between the track and any fixed object which might interfere with vehicular traffic at.the corner, the letter stated, was very much in excess of the clearance r.t a number of other corners in the district. Instructions would, however, ba issued to motormen that speed should not exceed four miles an hour in rounding the corner. A letter was received from the town clerk, acknowledging receipt of a draft bv-law from tho Association dealing with the regulation of street traffie, and stating that the question of framing new by-laws would be considered at the next meeting of tho By-lawf Committee of the City Council. The Anuiri City Council wrote, st.it' ing that it would adopt the suggestion to_ erect sign-posts for tho «nidance of motorists, the Association to provide the posts. ' .
