RIFLE SHOOTING.
VETERANS’ RIFLE CLUB. Tho newly-formed Veterans’ Rifio Club held its first meeting on Easter Monday at Redcliffs. About forty members, with their lady friends, were present, and a very enjoyable holiday was spent. Two matches were fired, one for members and one -for ladies. For tho ladies’ match Rifleman J. Kane donated a prize. The weather wa# very hot and oppressive, and with a very tricky north-west wind good scores were impossible, especially at the long ranges. Tho members' match, seven shot 3 at 200 GOO and 600yds, figure targets, wa3 won by Vice-president P. Jack, bate Linwood Rifles, with tho very creditable scoro of 89, from scratch. R'fljman J. Hadley gained second prize with 83. from scratch. The ladios’ match, seven shots at 200yds, figure target, was wen by Mrs A. Pattison with the firm score of 30, from scratch. Mi6s Maberly, who had never handled a rifle before, was second with a scoro of 25. There were eight entries. The following wero tho highest scores in both matches:— Members' Match.
LINCOLN DEFENCE CLUB. On Saturday, March 30, the Lincoln Defence Rifle Club completed its continued competition. The conditions of the competition wero five ehoots (three only to count) at ranges of 200 and 500yds, with ten shots at each distance. . The shooting resulted as follows :
On Easter Monday the final for tho President's Trophy and tho annual field daycompetition were fired. Lunch and afternoon tea wero provided on the range, and a pleasent day was spent. YVeather conditions were favourable, though at times the light was rather baffling, and a troublesome wind puzzled the shooters at the longer range. Tho shooting resulted as follows: PRESIDENT’S TROPHY, two Bhoots at 200, 500 and 600yds; seven shots at each distance.
